However, I did really expect a four page dissertation on the concept of "opposite" in relation to food. Bonus marks for elaborating on the contrast of Sweet verses Sour and for defining "Meaty" in both abstract and biochemical terms, with attention to the importance of hydrolyzed proteins.

And yes, I read your LJ entry about it
I wish I still had my MSN conversation with Red last night.

I started out wondering whether (in true Monty Python fashion) you were referring to leavened or unleavened bread.

I then went on to question whether it was a carbohydrate question, and whether I should be looking for something equally protein-y, and finally stopped at the thought that perhaps you meant bread as in "money" in which case would the opposite be "overdraft" or "credit"?

I'm happy you're keeping up with my LJ, I'm trying to make sure it's a bit different to my blog here, and considering how often and much I blog I shouldn't have too much trouble

Since no one else is answering this rather serious question, I'll have a go. I'm in a slightly contemplative mood after something of a open-heart session on MSN!

A. The obvious answer is flunking out of college. I really wanted to be a proper scientist, and I had a great opportunity. Although I was unlikely to be the next Hawkins, I've always felt that I could have made a significant contribution in some way. Perhaps I'll return to my studies if I live to retirement, but to be honest my mind just isn't what it used to be.

The more genuine answer, is that I regret my complete ineptitude when it comes to relationships. No one relationship in particular, just all of them!

Q. What do you want to be when you grow up?

A. Because the cat ate them already.

Q. If the universe was infinite, would there necessarily be a world made of pink blancmange ruled by purple people eaters with cute cat-eared maids and spotty flying jellyfish?

A: The world you describe, while massively improbable, is technically possible. In an infinite universe, where all possibilities exist, yes there would be a world like that.

Q: If we ever discovered that planet, how long would it take before the planet collapsed because we'd strip-mined the entire blancmange supply?

Bonus Q: Would 'natural' blancmange taste better or worse than the normal stuff?

A. About 34.5 years...the length of time it would take me to die from blancmange-icide.

For the Bonus: Natural Blancmange would taste exactly the same as the normal stuff, but cost twice as much and have some farking annoying Laandaan chef doing endorsements on tele all the time!!
