It's probably best to aim for "after lunch", otherwise I'll start drinking too early and I'll never finish making dinner <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' />

Gonna invite a few old friends too, but it's short notice so it may well just be us regulars. The weeks have gone so fast I nearly forgot my own birthday <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' />

So to answer your question, any time between 3 and 6 would be fine. The earlier you are, the more you'll get to help me tidy up <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' />

We'll be at the beach for the weekend of the 8th, Pevensey camping weekend along with some family visitation in St Leonards on the Saturday of that wkend.

Samhain is on Saturday 31st Octobre.

It's mental over the next two months for me. Everyone and their dog is having a birthday, and there's Pirate day and Diwali to consider too. However, I really do want to fit in another party at silly central before Winter.

The main theme is likely to be Apples. There should be new apple wine, mulled apple wine from last season, scrumpy, pickles and pie. I'll probably do crumble for pudding, and bake some for breakfast. The main dish will probably be Pig, with apple sauce of course <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' />

Does anyone have plans? Free apples for everyone who comes!

Unfortunately, I can't make this one. I have a prior engagement which I only found the date for yesterday. <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' />

I can do the weekend before; the 24th? That's the last day of summer so we get an extra hour in bed. I think that's a pretty good thing to celebrate <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' />

OK, having come back from Egypt, we are already missing some of the food we had there. <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' />

So, for the next silly plaice meetup, we suggest:

Egyptian Night?

Egyptian food is basically a mix of Middle Eastern and Greek foods. So plenty of Falafel, tahina, shawarma and baklava (google it if you're not sure <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /> ). Me and Mrs R will be happy to take on the cooking duties.

And after dinner, a good session on our shiny new shisha pipe. <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/cool.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='cool.gif' />

Music can be the usual stuff, 'cos Egyptian music is rubbish. <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' />

So, whaddaya think? Interested?

Baklava is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of phyllo dough filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey.

Ah, I have had that - or a variation on the theme.

I'm not a fan of normal sweet pastry. However, I do like crispy phyllo because it's less cloggy and I love nuts and sweet sticky things. It's not something I'd ever make though, because I refuse to buy pre-prepared food and phyllo is beyond my skills. I know because I've already tried quite hard!!
